Our Beliefs
God is at the centre of everything we do at Thornton Methodist Church.
Through prayer, worship, fellowship, mission and study, we focus on how we can serve others, helping them to experience God’s love. This love is for all.
We believe that God sent His only son, Jesus, to die for our sins, so that we might have a relationship with the living God.
We believe that joining with others is essential, which is why we enjoy worshipping together and meeting in small groups to develop our faith.
"In the evening I went very unwillingly to a society at Aldersgate Street, where one was reading from Luther's preface to the Epistle to the Romans.
About a quarter before nine, while he was describing the change that God works in the heart through faith in Christ, I felt my heart strangely warmed.
I felt I did trust in Christ, Christ alone, for salvation. And an assurance was given me that he had taken away my sins, even mine, and saved me from the law of sin and death."
John Wesley, founder of the Methodist Church.
